Advocates provide immediate direct assistance in aiding victims in obtaining medical care, interacting
with criminal justice system, referrals to local resources and legal support agencies, threat assessments, assistance filing for victim compensation, safety planning and obtaining family violence protection orders, stalking orders and sexual assault protection orders.

ADVOCACY

Advocates provide direct assistance, aiding victims in:

  • Obtaining medical care

  • Interactions with the criminal justice system

  • Referrals to local resources and legal support agencies

  • Threat assessments

  • Assistance filing for victim compensation

  • Safety planning and obtaining family

  • Stalking orders

  • Sexual assault protection orders.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Advocates provide victims a regular time to meet to share problem-solving techniques, express concerns and feelings in a supportive setting.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EMERGENCY SHELTER

The Self Help Center Safe House of Casper, WY provides 24-hour emergency shelter to single women and women with children that have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault.  Each resident is given a 30 day stay, however, some can stay longer depending on their individual situation and safety.

 

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Professional counseling services include individuals (adults, teenagers, and adolescents), couples, and family counseling. 

Counseling techniques and interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Systemic Therapy.

ONE-ON-ONE EDUCATION AND SUPPORT

Advocates provide clients with information, education, and emotional support. Educate clients on the Power and Control Wheel and the Cycle of Violence. Also, assisting clients in reviewing options available to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and elder abuse.
